i photographed these guys approx. 12 months ago, and although cooper was the only one to remember me – everyone certainly knew exactly what to do! normally an average family session for me would take an hour and a half to two hours. i was done with these guys in an hour! they were so happy to smile at the camera for me, or to jump around, or to run around, or for me to chase them!!! and katy, oh my god, did she get it right with everyone’s clothes or what??? when i have other clients asking me for advice on what to wear….i’ll be sending them to this blog post, because THIS is the sort of thing you should be looking at for inspiration when it comes to wardrobe choices! the colours worked perfectly, without everyone being “matchy matchy”. i often tell clients that if you want natural looking photographs, then DON’T dress the same – we don’t dress the same as everyone else in the family day in and day out…so why do it for portraits? keep the clothes in the same family of colours, but make each outfit suit each individual personality. well, you can see how this works anyway, can’t you?
katy and stuart – thank you so much. i had a lovely time photographing you guys again. can’t wait to see the outfits next year!!!! enjoy your sneak peek xx
the kids

last year, ellen wasn’t quite so cooperative…as we all know 2 year olds are prone to. this year, she was wonderful!

i ADORE this one of olivia

cooper is adorable, isn’t he?

i always tell kids that i have a rainbow bird in my lens (not sure where i first heard of this idea, if it was you, then thank you!!!). i tell them that the bird often changes colour, so they have to keep looking to see what colour he is now. which means i often get lots of photos like this:
but they always see him!!!
