i photographed these guys approx. 12 months ago, and although cooper was the only one to remember me – everyone certainly knew exactly what to do! normally an average family session for me would take an hour and a half to two hours. i was done with these guys in an hour! they were so happy to smile at the camera for me, or to jump around, or to run around, or for me to chase them!!! and katy, oh my god, did she get it right with everyone’s clothes or what??? when i have other clients asking me for advice on what to wear….i’ll be sending them to this blog post, because THIS is the sort of thing you should be looking at for inspiration when it comes to wardrobe choices! the colours worked perfectly, without everyone being “matchy matchy”. i often tell clients that if you want natural looking photographs, then DON’T dress the same – we don’t dress the same as everyone else in the family day in and day out…so why do it for portraits? keep the clothes in the same family of colours, but make each outfit suit each individual personality. well, you can see how this works anyway, can’t you?

katy and stuart – thank you so much. i had a lovely time photographing you guys again. can’t wait to see the outfits next year!!!! enjoy your sneak peek xx

what a gorgeous family!

i always tell kids that i have a rainbow bird in my lens (not sure where i first heard of this idea, if it was you, then thank you!!!). i tell them that the bird often changes colour, so they have to keep looking to see what colour he is now. which means i often get lots of photos like this:

but they always see him!!!

i met up with natalie and brendan at my favourite location – sandgate @ low tide. i love shooting here. not only is it only 10mins from my house, but i just love the mud and the puddles and the light. b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. and so was natalie. only a month to go, and just finished work. time to do some relaxing before the chaos of a newborn baby hits.

natalie and brendan, all the best for the next few weeks. enjoy your sneak peek!

ah, rylee, she was so good to me. once we totally filled her up, she was putty in my hands! such a gorgeous, placid little thing, and apparently doesn’t keep tania and glenn up too much at all at night!

guys, thank you so much, rylee is such a dream baby. congrats, and enjoy your sneak peek. will be in touch soon xx

ok, i have to talk to my husband, because tania got a gorgeous custom designed eternity ring. i’m now owed 2 of them!

this little gal wasn’t so keen on the sleeping thing…i spent a lot of time with my finger in her mouth, trying to get her to sleep! i did manage to get some shots of her asleep in the end, but i had to work quickly! she is such a pretty little thing though, isn’t she?

enjoy your sneak peek guys, and i’ll be in touch soon

one crazy child? check. one quiet, self contained child? check. one with a gorgeous, big, contagious smiles? check. these guys have it all, and they sure know how to have fun. i loved this session so, so much. (and because i didn’t have to chase a toddler around making animal noises to get him to look at me, it was a real novelty for me too!!!) not only are these guys a gorgeous looking family, but they are all so sweet, and adoring of each other. made me kinda wish i was a big sister!!!!

jonathan and julie, you have an amazing family. thank you so much for sharing it with me for a few hours. enjoy!

this was my first maternity session in i-don’t-know-how-long but we had the perfect backdrop at wellington point, and with the dust covering the sun, it made for spectacular silhouette photos! i am pretty sure i squealed like a little girl when i realised that i had caught the seagulls flying past behind talita and john. these guys were so relaxed, which i always love, and i’m positive they are going to make awesome parents!

talita and john, good luck for the next few weeks, and i can’t wait to see you again after your new little guy or gal is born!

even with this weird dust/yellow haze covering the sun. this shot wouldn’t have been the same without it though. and the birds, oh the birds!
